I haven't blogged in a while b/c we have been so busy, and I never know what to blog about. Thanksgiving was great. We went to the farm and stayed with Jarod's family for 4 days. We ate lots, laughed lots, played lots, and shot guns! The guys did their annual shooting out by the barn while the rest of us sat back and watched. I'm too chicken to shoot one, maybe next year. My Dad got to come down and spend Thanksgiving day with us; it was really great to see him. Oh and he is not a bad shooter! He was also zipping around on the 4-wheeler and having a blast. It was fun to see him let loose and do all these "manly" things. :-)
We've been working on our kitchen/bathroom remodel. I scrapped the popcorn ceiling in the kitchen and started sanding the cabinets and trim. Jarod filled in some holes with mud. In the bathroom we finished peeling all the paint, and Jarod put a thin coat of mud on the wall to cover up the sheet rock that had been torn up. I sanded the trim and cabinets (well I'm almost done. I'll finish it by this afternoon). Now we are ready to texture and start painting. I'm so ready for it to be done! It's such a mess right now but I keep my eye on the prize, knowing it will look so nice when we are done.
We've got a Christmas concert this weekend to go to; a Christmas party with the staff next week; a Christmas eve service; and the special that I am helping to lead the Sunday before Christmas. It's all good but busy getting read for each thing.
I love Christmas and just this time of year. But I am not one that likes all the hoopla about presents and spending lots of money on dinners and fancy things. (I won't get on my soapbox about this :-) ). I like to keep it simple, enjoy my family and friends, and focus on what this holiday is all about. I am thankful for the birth of my Savior! Thank you Lord for coming and saving us! Merry Christmas!
Here's to a better year
